If a problem arised like a network problem, computer problem, computer virus, or anything else technical then when we reach a stopping point for the day we bring out the tool kits and start troubleshooting. Now "profecinal" technicians do the work. Our original workstation computers were taken away for a few months to be referbished and you know what??? they came back worse off then when they left. My computer alone had screws roling around in the case freely. The heatsink for the processor, well it didn't work to well because the entire thing was caked in dust, and i had freaken spider webs in my computer, as well as the only system cooling fan was fryed to a crisp. you couldn't even turn the fan blades. they didn't do a damn thing, i would know if they did because they would have left finger prints in the 1/16 inch of dust that was inside the computer. And the video card, which worked fine before the computer was taken away, wasn't even seated properly into it's socket so my video would be termpermental. I never had a problem with the video card before. and i guess the techs did something because i do remember seeing a finger print on the video card so i can thank them for messing that up.
The computer next to mine was a little more shocking. It had expantion cards just sitting inside the case. Some where even connected to the motherboard for power but weren't in any slot, and there were enough pci slots to connect the card to the motherboard.
Anyone who has built anything with their own two hands should be able to understand how i feal about this next part. First off, this class is a two year class that rotates from Computer Systems and Hardware to Computer Systems and Networking, every other year. Last year was the networking protion of the class. Within the first week of school the teacher brought out three spools of CAT 5 cable and rj-45 jacks and said to us, "Okay, lets build the network." Most of us had no expereance actually building a computer network but it was a fun experience. We all learned as went about our tasks of measuring cables, cuting them and finally adding connectors to them. The network wasn't the best, but we only had a few minor bugs which we solved early on. We never had any physical problems with the network after a few months. It was a good quality network and everyone took pride in having built it, flaws and all. Now i am a second year student taking the Computer Systems and Hardware protion of the class and we are still using that same network and it isn't supposed to be removed untill next year when the class becomes the networking class once again. But the school district is right now planning on pulling out the network me and other students spend days on getting it right, and have it professionally wired so they can use our class as a comptuer lab in the morning. It makes no sence to tear out a network that works just fine.
i will finish this later class is starting
